Cops Arrest ‘Kabit’ in Entrapment Operation Due to Online Harassment
KABIT – A 21-year-old man was arrested in San Pablo, Laguna after his former partner filed a complaint against him for online harassment.
The arrest happened through an entrapment operation carried out by authorities.
According to the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), the suspect was in possession of private photos and videos of the victim. These were allegedly used to blackmail and threaten her.

Investigators said the man warned his former partner that he would share the intimate materials with her husband and friends if she refused to meet him again for indecent favors.
The harassment left the victim in fear and distress, prompting her to seek help from the authorities. With her cooperation, the police were able to set up an operation that eventually led to the suspect’s arrest.
The incident portrays the dangers of online abuse and the importance of protecting personal information. The PNP-ACG continues to remind the public, especially women, not to tolerate harassment and to immediately seek help if they are being threatened or abused online.
“We must know our worth. Wag natin hayaan na abusuhin tayo… Kung kayo ay nakakaranas ng online abuse or harassment wag nang dalawang isip na lumapit sa PNP ACG,” PNP said.
The suspect is now facing charges of grave coercion under the Cybercrime Prevention Act. Police also warned that such acts carry serious legal consequences, as they do not only violate trust and dignity but also inflict deep emotional harm on victims.
The incident reminds that technology, while helpful, can also be misused by those with bad intentions. Authorities encourage everyone to be cautious in sharing personal files and to reach out to law enforcement when faced with harassment.
