This is what Bianca Gonzalez shared after Toni Gonzaga left the PBB.
During the first episode of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) without Toni Gonzaga, this is what host Bianca Gonzalez shared.
In 2022, ABS-CBN accepted the resignation of Toni Gonzaga as the main host of the hit reality show “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB). For 16 years, she hosted the reality show, and with this, the network expressed how it valued Gonzaga’s “hosting prowess and her many years of service serving the Filipino with us as our Kapamilya.”
The network accepted Gonzaga’s resignation from PBB and respected her personal choices. To recall, she was among the pilot and original hosts of the reality show when it premiered on Philippine television in 2005.
Her departure from the program came after she expressed her support for Rodante Marcoleta, who pushed for her home network ABS-CBN’s broadcast shutdown. Marcoleta was among the most outspoken lawmakers who spearheaded the move to deny ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal application in mid-2020.
Now, what was it like during the first episode without the main host? Bianca Gonzalez, the one who replaced Toni, shared a core memory, which was the first episode they did a few days after her resignation. It was a dark time, and to face a major change after the “templated” show they had been doing for many years was hard.
They were all there, and despite the weight of the situation where everything seemed changed, they continued, but she was crying her eyes out.
She recalled, “I remember after the episode hindi lang kaming lima, all the staff, creatives, our bosses were all there, ako bilang dati I was crying my eyes out. Hindi siya favorite but top of mind Kapamilya memory because that whole night naipakita lahat ng rason kung bakit mahal na mahal ko ang mga KAPAMILYA.”
It was hard, but everyone stood up for each other during that difficult time, and right at that time, they felt the essence of being family at its peak.
