PAGASA Says Easterlies and Localized Thunderstorms to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Wednesday (August 20, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galicia reported that the easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms Mindanao, Palawan, Eastern Samar, and Northern Samar.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the Bicol Region and the rest of MIMAROPA.
The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
PAGASA is also monitoring a low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It has a chance to develop into a tropical depression.

The LPA was spotted 1,150 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas and outside the PAR. It may become a tropical depression by Friday (August 22) before crossing Northern Luzon.
“It is still outside our area of responsibility, but in the next 3 hours or this morning, we expect it to enter the PAR,” De La Cruz-Galicia said.
The weather disturbance will be given a local name “Isang” once it becomes a tropical cyclone.
“There are two possible scenarios with this low pressure area. First, it is possible that it could form or develop into a tropical depression before it even approaches the landmass and before it crosses our landmass. And the second scenario, it is possible that it could form after or after it crosses our landmass,” he explained.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The coastal water condition across the country will be slight to moderate.
