Liza Soberano’s Painful Past Inspires Call for Women & Children to Speak Up

Bravery in the Spotlight: Liza Soberano Urges Victims to Break Their Silence

LIZA SOBERANO – Actress Liza Soberano has chosen to bare her most painful experiences, hoping her story will inspire victims of abuse to speak out without fear.

Liza Soberano has once again proven her courage as she chose to open up about one of the most difficult chapters of her life, hoping that her voice could inspire others to break their silence.

Days after revealing the abuse she endured at a young age, the actress emphasized that she shared her story to encourage fellow victims of abuse to come forward. She previously disclosed that she experienced abuse from her mother’s former boyfriend and later from a foster parent while living in the United States.

On Monday, Aug. 18, Soberano took to Instagram to thank those who offered her support following her revelation. As a child rights advocate, she penned a heartfelt message to her younger self, saying, “To four-year-old Hope, who’s in the midst of a painful, upside down world, just trying to stay a child, thank you.”

She also admitted questioning herself, writing, “I know you must be wondering why I’m sharing our story, why now, and why this?”

Her answer, she explained, lies in the alarming number of Filipino children who continue to fall victim to abuse and exploitation. “As an actress my job is to entertain. But as a public figure, my responsibility is to speak up on the things that matter, from a place that matters,” she stressed.

Soberano acknowledged that sharing her truth came with fear of judgment but chose to speak out regardless. “All of me dreads sharing the most intimate parts of my soul, just for people to judge and diminish my experiences. But if I don’t speak up out of discomfort or fear, what chance does all the scared and voiceless women and children that are still in dangerous situations have?”

Liza Soberano further reminded victims not to be swayed by negativity. “Cruel people will try to discredit your story, they’ll say you are exaggerating or being self serving, don’t mind them,” she said, adding that those who exploit such pain should simply be ignored.

Her bravery earned admiration from fellow celebrities and supporters. Soberano ended her message with a call to action: “Let’s make a stand together, fight together, and work together to create a safer and kinder world for each other.”
