Nadia Montenegro decided to leave her job as Sen. Robin Padilla’s staff member
Actress Nadia Montenegro explained her side of the story in the allegation that she was caught smoking “Mary Jane” within the Senate premises.
This started as a blind item. It was alleged that a staff member of a Senator was smoking an illegal substance inside the female’s comfort room. Eventually, write-ups surfaced that the staff member was Nadia. She is working for Senator Robin Padilla.
Amid the allegation, Nadia was defended by Padilla’s office. She also received support from talent manager Angeli Pangilinan, the wife of Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano.

Following the issue, Nadia Montenegro’s official statement dated August 13 was released to the public, based on the report from ABS-CBN News. “I vehemently deny that I am the staff of the senator mentioned in those articles,” the actress stressed in her statement.
She also stressed that she did not use the female’s comfort room at that time because she used the PWD restroom. “It was likewise suspecting that the alleged ‘male’ staff of Senator Lacson would say that I was the only one in the ladies’ comfort room when he should have no personal knowledge of that unless he entered and used the ladies’ comfort room at that time,” she pointed out.

Nadia said that she was surprised when she received a memorandum telling her to submit a written explanation about the said incident.
The actress also wondered why this issue reached news sites Abante and Politiko when this was only addressed to the Senate Sergeant at Arms.

Following the issue, Nadia Montenegro decided to resign, but she stressed that her resignation “should not be misconstrued as an admission of guilt.” Although she was happy with her job in the Senate, she came up with this decision to take care of her mental health and for the welfare of her children, who received negative comments online.
“Thus, even with a heavy heart but for the sake of my mental health and the welfare of my children, I decided to tender my resignation from my position in Senator Padilla’s office effective immediately,” Nadia Montenegro said.
