PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon to Affect Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.  

On Friday (August 15, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.  

PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz-Galicia reported that the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“In the areas mentioned, we continue to remind our countrymen that wherever they need to go today, they should not forget to bring rain protection and remain alert to the possibility of flooding,” Galicia said.  

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, the Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Pangasinan.  

Habagat will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of Luzon.  

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy and severe thunderstorms.  

No tropical cyclone or low-pressure area is being monitored inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.  

“Ngayon po ay wala tayong LPA na minomonitor sa loob ng ating area of responsibility, wala ring bagyo. Pero,pagantabi pa rin tayo sa magiging updates ng pag-asa uko sa mga posibilidad ng pagkabuo ng mga panibagong weather system such as LPAs at tropical cyclones,” she added.  

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA
