Statement of Malacañang on Survey Showing Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Leading the 2028 Presidential Race
Malacañang reacted to the results of the survey showing Vice President Sara Duterte as the 2028 presidential frontrunner.
The next presidential election is still three (3) years from now but, undeniably, there are already names floating as possible candidates for the polls. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s name is one of those that are usually in the results of surveys.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is ready to support her if she runs in the 2028 presidential elections. According to the Vice President, her father assured her that he will be the first one to support and contribute in case she decides to take the next presidential race.
The younger Duterte also claimed that her father hopes that by that time comes, if she runs for the 2028 presidential race, he hopes that he is no longer detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) as he really wants to campaign for her.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands for around five (5) months now. He is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over the war on drugs of his administration.

Vice Pres. Duterte has refused to categorically answer in several issues the queries about her possible presidential bid in 2028. In one interview, she claimed that she is allegedly the frontrunner of the 2028 presidential elections that is why the administration supposedly wants her out.
Recently, the result of the research conducted by public opinion firm WR Numero showed that 31.4% of Filipinos will choose Vice Pres. Sara Duterte if the 2028 Elections will be held today. It earned a reaction from Malacañang.

On the result of the survey showing Vice Pres. Sara Duterte leading the 2028 Elections presidential race, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is focused on his work.
“Ibig sabihin niyan po ay ang Pangulo po ay concentrated sa kaniyang pagtatrabaho para maibigay ang nararapat sa taumbayan. Hindi pa po namumulitika ang Pangulo. Hindi po namumulitika ang Pangulo,” the Palace official said.
Furthermore, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro said the people must focus on the delivery of service by the administration and not on the potential results of the next national elections.
“At siguro ang eleksyon, sa 2028 pa po iyan, saka na natin pag-usapan, pagtuunan po natin at pinagtutuunan ng Pangulo ang pagtatrabaho para sa taumbayan,” the Malacañang official said.
Recently, Malacañang also defended the Confidential and Intelligence Funds request of the Office of the President as per a report on Inquirer citing that money is not bad as long as it is spent on the right things. The defense came after it was revealed that the office of Pres. Bongbong Marcos gets the biggest share in the proposed Confidential and Intel Funds for 2026.
