Former ABS-CBN actress Liza Soberano announces that she and Enrique Gil have been broken up for almost three years now.
LizQuen was one of the most famous and most successful love teams in the Philippines, but beautiful things come to an end, including theirs as a love team. When Liza Soberano left ABS-CBN and started to pursue a career in Hollywood, their love team also disbanded.
According to rumors, they broke up in 2022, but the actor was always the one to clarify that they are still together. Last year, based on a previous article, Enrique confirmed that they are still together. To recall, they have been together since 2014 but only publicly confirmed their relationship in 2019.
Despite Enrique Gil‘s claims that they are still together and merely in a long-distance relationship, Liza revealed the truth just recently to make things formal and official. In the podcast-cinema-documentary by director Sarah Bahbah, Soberano expressed that she has been itching to reveal that she and Gil have been no longer together for almost three years now.
“I’ve been itching to tell people this because I haven’t been very truthful. Quen hasn’t been very truthful. Quen and I broke up. But yeah, we’ve been broken up for almost three years now. And the reason, well, originally the reason why we haven’t said anything about it is because Enrique or Quen asked me not to say anything about it first,” she revealed.
They both did not want to announce it at first, for they did not want it to be real. For her part, she agreed to it, coming from her tendency to put other people’s happiness first before hers. She was also afraid that it might trigger her career to go badly.
She also admitted that she “genuinely expected” they would get married at some point, but it eventually didn’t happen because they “weren’t a match anymore.”
“When I broke up with him, I would say it was such a beautiful breakup because it was still so, so full of love… it was so hard for me to actually break up with him because I love him. I still love him as a person. When I look back at our time together, I see good moments all the time,” she recalled.
