Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Addressing Accusations against her
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed that her camp will answer to the allegations of misused confidential funds in the “proper forum”.
The Supreme Court declared the articles of impeachment against Vice Pres. Duterte as “unconstitutional” for not following the one-year rule in the Constitution. The decision of the high court was released prior to the opening of the 20th Congress.
Duterte’s camp welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court claiming that the SC has once again upheld the rule of law. According to her legal team, they remain ready to address the allegations against the Vice President in the proper forum.
Last August 6, the Senate ruled to archive the impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta introduced a motion to dismiss the impeachment case but, later on, agreed to change the motion.
Some senators stressed the presence of the Motion for Reconsideration filed by some complainants and the House of Representatives before the Supreme Court. The archiving of the impeachment complaint came after a 19-4-1 voting.

Based on a report on Inquirer, aside from the House and some complainants filing the MRs before the Supreme Court, another group of petitioners which is the fifth group asked the high court to reconsider its ruling. The said fifth group of petitioners are composed of lawyers, priests, and civil society organizations.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on the allegations of misused Confidential Funds against her. According to the Vice President, if there is a case, they are willing to address it in the proper forum.
“Kung may kaso, sa tamang forum mag-eexplain kami. Nagsabi kami noong nag-file sila ng articles of impeachment nila na ready ang defense team na sumagot sa accusations ng prosecutors ng House,” she said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also claimed that when the impeachment complaint against her were taken to the Supreme Court, they provided all that the high court sought from them. According to her, it should supposedly not be that accusations are just done anywhere.
“Doon sa mga tamang forum at tamang venue, nagbibigay kami ng saktong sagot at nagbibigay kami… ng explanation ng mga accusations,” the Vice President expressed.
Amid the archived impeachment case against the Vice President in the Senate, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian claimed that it takes only five (5) senators to pull out Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment case from the Senate archives.
