VP Sara Duterte was asked to react to Vice Ganda’s joke
Vice President Sara Duterte and the local government of Davao City reacted to the viral joke of Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda about former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Vice’s became a trending topic online after his skit at his Super Divas concert with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez received criticism from PRRD’s supporters.
He received an open letter from British citizen Malcolm Conlan, who is one of Duterte’s supporters, saying that what he did was inappropriate.
Atty. Harry Roque also fired back at Vice because of that joke, and DDS even requested the Davao City government to declare Vice persona non grata.
Based on the article in Bandera, Acting Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II debunked the speculations that the LGU declared Vice Ganda persona non grata.
“The Davao City Council has far more important matters to attend to than entertaining baseless, attention-seeking antics from performers desperate for relevance,” the Acting Vice Mayor said.
“Davao City will not be distracted by cheap insults and distasteful jokes made for clout,” Duterte II added.
VP Sara Duterte was also asked to react to the joke of the Kapamilya comedian-host. The Vice President said that she was not able to watch or read what the joke was.
With this, she could not give a concrete answer regarding the issue. VP Sara also said that it depends on the Davao City LGU on what to do about this matter. “I haven’t seen or read the jokes being referred to, but whatever the decision of the city council, it has to be a majority decision,” the Vice President said.
Meanwhile, despite the bashing that Vice Ganda received, he received support from President Bongbong Marcos’s admiration. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro released a statement about this. The comedian-host was also defended by his friend Kapuso comedienne Pokwang.
