Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva Speaks on Sen. Robin Padilla over Ethics Committee
ROBIN PADILLA – The actor-turned-Senator is being considered to head the Senate Committee on Ethics as claimed by Senator Joel Villanueva.
The Senate has way more committees compared to the number of the sitting senators. Thus, there are some senators who are holding multiple Senate committee chairmanships.

It was previously reported that senators Robin Padilla and Imee Marcos were among the senators who leads multiple Senate committees. The Presidential Sister heads the Cooperatives Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, and the Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development Committee.
Actor-turned-Senator Robin Padilla leads three (3) Senate committees — the Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Codes Committee, Cultural Communities and Muslim Affairs Committee and Public Information and Mass Media Committee.

However, recently, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva confirmed that they are considering Sen. Robin Padilla for another Senate committee — the Senate Committee on Ethics.

Based on a report on Inquirer, Sen. Joel Villanueva confirmed to reporters through a Viber message that Sen. Robin Padilla is being considered to lead the Senate Committee on Ethics but clarified that the discussion is ongoing. Furthermore, Villanueva also stressed that nothing is final yet.
“Yes it’s true, it’s being discussed… But nothing is final until it’s read on the [Senate floor],” the Senate Majority Leader said.
Citing the Senate website, reportedly, the Senate Ethics Committee is responsible for “all matters relating to the conduct, rights, privileges, safety, dignity, integrity and reputation of the Senate and its members.”

Based on the report, Sen. Robin Padilla has yet to speak on him being considered to head the Senate Committee on Ethics but he is willing to give up his lead of the Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Codes to someone who is “more competent”.
