Recently, Genesis Bernardo, a Facebook user, shared the challenges he faced despite achieving his dream. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and garnered various reactions from the online community.
Bernardo, a proud aviation graduate, revealed that while earning his license was a milestone, it was only the beginning of a much tougher journey. Job opportunities were scarce, and he found himself struggling to make ends meet.
He recalled the days he would prepare simple packed meals of rice and egg before leaving his home in Laguna. Wearing his pilot’s uniform, he would travel daily by tricycle and bus to Manila, hoping to find work in the aviation industry.
“May mga araw na nagbaon ako ng kanin at itlog, binalot, packed lunch. Galing akong Laguna, araw araw ba-biyahe suot ang uniform ko, sasakay ng tricycle at bus papuntang Manila para lamg maghanap ng trabaho,” he said.
While some of his fellow pilots enjoyed dining out, he quietly ate his packed lunch, feeling a mix of pride and sadness. There were moments when he questioned his worth, wondering why his achievements didn’t translate to the life he had envisioned.
“Yung ibang kasama kong piloto, kakain sa labas. Ako, tahimik lang at kakainin ang baon ko. Walang nagsabi ng kahit anong masama, pero sa loob loob ko, sobrang awang awa na ko sa sarili ko,” he added.
Genesis wished he could comfort his past self, assuring him that the struggles would one day make sense.
The post resonated with many who are silently carrying their own burdens, people who are chasing dreams but are met with delays, disappointments, and the weight of waiting. He reminded them not to give up, no matter how exhausting or discouraging the journey feels.
Genesis acknowledged that there is purpose in hardship, even if it is not immediately clear. He shared that every day during that period, he fought silent battles within himself, but chose to keep moving forward.
