Oil Price Rollback to Take Effect on Tuesday (August 12, 2025)

DOE to Impose Oil Price Rollback This Week

FUEL PRICE ADJUSTMENTS – The Department of Energy announced an oil price rollback starting Tuesday (August 12, 2025).

After a month of continuous hikes, fuel prices in the country are finally set to go down, bringing some relief to motorists. Oil companies will implement price rollbacks for gasoline, diesel, and kerosene.

The new rates will see gasoline reduced by P0.40 per liter, while diesel will go down by P1.50 per liter. Kerosene will also be cheaper by P1.30 per liter, although not all stations sell it. Most companies, including Shell Pilipinas, Seaoil, and Petro Gazz, will apply the changes at 6 a.m., while Cleanfuel will adjust prices later in the morning at 8:01 a.m.

Oil Price Rollback

The price adjustment follows four straight weeks of increases, which last week alone pushed prices up by P1.90 for gasoline, P1.20 for diesel, and P1.00 for kerosene.

Despite the upcoming rollback, overall pump prices remain higher compared to the start of the year, with gasoline up by P10.80 per liter, diesel by P12.75, and kerosene by P2.65.

Officials from the Department of Energy said the rollback is largely due to falling global oil prices. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) recently agreed to increase production by more than half a million barrels per day starting in September, helping ease supply concerns.

Market uncertainty has also influenced prices. Possible new U.S. tariffs on countries buying Russian oil, including India and China, have raised questions about future demand and supply stability.

These measures are tied to political pressure on Russia over the conflict in Ukraine. While the price drop offers some short-term comfort, experts believe fuel costs could still change quickly in the coming weeks. For now, drivers can take advantage of lower prices.
