Lauren Dyogi mentioned Maris Racal and Joshua Garcia in a recent interview
Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi said that actress Maris Racal and actor Joshua Garcia were among the former Pinoy Big Brother housemates who were able to survive showbiz.
For many celebrities, the Kapamilya reality show became a stepping stone for their showbiz career. Many former PBB housemates established their careers in the entertainment industry after their stint on the reality show.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Lauren Dyogi said that the housemates became popular while they were inside the PBB house; however, they need to prove their resilience once they get out of the house, and they should know how to maintain their popularity.
For him, there were people who were really meant to be in the industry. However, there had been a lot of PBB housemates, and some Big Winners even returned to their normal lives after the reality show.
“But I think the popularity and the fame that they got should help them get better opportunities outside—whether it’s in show business or other opportunities. Nasa kanila naman yun paano nila gamitin,” the ABS-CBN Executive said.
He also mentioned that a lot of former housemates had already jump-started their online presence, and this gave opportunities for them since brands started to collaborate with them.
However, Lauren stressed the hard truth that not everyone will survive in the entertainment industry. He said that among these few were Maris Racal and Joshua Garcia.
“Maris [Racal], si Joshua [Garcia], they’ve waited for years before they really achieved certain level of kasikatan,” the Star Magic head said.
Maris was part of the Pinoy Big Brother: All In edition in 2014, and she finished as the runner-up. Joshua Garcia was also part of the same season of the Kapamilya reality show. The Big Winner in that season was Brazilian-Japanese actor Daniel Matsunaga.
