Here’s an update about Tropical Storm Podul.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest information about Tropical Storm Podul.
In the latest update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Podul, a tropical depression, has intensified while moving west-northwestward.

It has maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 105 km/h, and a central pressure of 996 hPa. It moves at 15 km/h and its center, based on all available data, was spotted at 2,315 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (21.0°N, 144.1°E).
According to the general outlook, it is not likely to affect the weather and sea conditions of the country in the next five days.
According to the latest forecast, Podul is expected to continue moving in a west-northwestward direction until August 9 before gradually shifting to a westward path from August 10 through August 11, Monday. In the track forecast, weather authorities anticipate that the tropical cyclone will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) sometime between the late evening of Sunday and the early hours of Monday.
Podul is forecast to continue strengthening and reach the severe tropical storm category by the morning of August 9. By Sunday, it is expected to further intensify and may possibly develop into a typhoon.
Once inside the Philippine boundary, it will be called “Gorio”.
Meanwhile, according to PAGASA’s update on Fabian PH, the center of the tropical depression has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility already. It is no longer expected to directly affect the country. Earlier forecasts also indicated that Fabian would gradually weaken as it moved farther away from PAR.
Fabian was the first to be formed in the month of August and the sixth to enter the country’s monitoring area in 2025.
