Gary Valenciano Was Told He’d Only Live Until 44 Due To Disease

Wife of Gary Valenciano opens up about his terrifying prognosis.

Angeli Pangilinan, the wife of Gary Valenciano, shared a story of testimony and faith about a terrifying doctor’s prognosis.

OPM icon Gary Valenciano has dealt with several instances where his faith was tested. In 2018, Valenciano underwent an emergency open-heart bypass surgery due to a blocked artery.

In the same year, he was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney after a six-centimeter malignant tumor was found.

He underwent so much, but even before these things, he already had a terrifying prognosis when he was just 20 years old. According to the post of his wife, Angeli Valenciano, that marked his birthday and their 41st wedding anniversary, he was already told that he would only live until he was 44.

This happened before their wedding on August 6, 1984. In 1978, doctors informed them that, due to his Type 1 insulin-dependent juvenile diabetes, his life expectancy was only around 30 years.

It meant he would only live until 2008, but with the advancement of technology, he was able to outlive the prognosis, and just recently, he turned 61 years old.

“But that was when diabetes management was not advanced and through the years technology gave us real-time glucose monitoring gadgets that allowed him to check his sugar levels 3-4 times a day. Thus extending his life span,” his wife shared.

With the help of Epi-pen for first aid, various medical platforms, and other sources, they were able to monitor his condition, and he lived better and longer with the help of an appropriate diet and regular exercise.

“Every year of Gary’s life is a bonus from God!” she added as she also expressed how beautiful their lives are with their children and two grandchildren. He is now 61 years old, and they have been married for 41 years.
