Flood in Laguna Looks Like Matcha Flavor Due to Its Green Color
Residents of Isla Berde, Purok 6 in San Antonio Bay, Laguna are wading through floodwater that resembles “matcha flavor” because of its green color.
Recently, Katleya Tandang, a Facebook user, shared photos of the “matcha-flavored” flood in Laguna, emphasizing its unusual green color. The post quickly went viral and garnered various reactions online.
Last Tuesday (August 5, 2025), Tandang said that the flood has been there for two weeks and shows no signs of going down. She also mentioned that the water is already dirty and smelly, making it difficult for them to go about their daily lives.

Some residents wear boots to get around, but others have no choice but to walk through the water barefoot. They still need to buy food and essentials, and children still need to be brought to school, whether the water is green or not.
“Yung iba naka-bota yung iba naman po walang bota, no choice naman po kung hindi lulusong, paano po makakabili ng mga pangangailangan sa araw araw at paano po mahahatid ang mga bata sa paaralan,” Katleya said.
Some people jokingly compared the water to efficascent oil or green tea, while others expressed concern and suggested that the area needs to be cleaned and inspected.

As of now, the local government has not yet released an official statement regarding the situation.
Katleya also captioned her video with a bit of humor: “From matcha flavor to hot green tea—welcome to Isla Verde, Purok 6, San Antonio Bay, Laguna.”

Despite the challenges, the post shows how Filipinos can still find humor in tough situations while hoping for real solutions.
