In an interview, Bela Padilla made this revelation.
“100 Awit Para Kay Stella” actress Bela Padilla revealed that she almost did not make it to be Stella in the sequel to the film.
2017 blockbuster hit “100 Tula Para Kay Stella,” starring Bela Padilla and JC Santos, is having a sequel called “100 Awit Para Kay Stella.” Both Padilla and Santos have reprised their roles as Stella and Fidel, respectively, and joining them for a love triangle angle is Kyle Echarri.
The sequel will be produced by VIVA Films and Ninuno Media, directed by Jason Paul Laxamana.
During the media conference held for the upcoming film, Padilla revealed that she almost lost the titular role. She expressed, “I would have been mad… I am not going to let anyone play Stella if I had the last say.”
Accordingly, it was Santos who revealed to her that she would be replaced in the film after she moved to London. To recall, for some time, she stayed in London, and it was just in the recent months that she finally moved back to the Philippines and decided to work full-time.
However, Santos and Padilla have promised each other that only they could play Stella and Fidel. The actress recalled, “May dapat isho-shoot bago ng pandemic. Sakto nag pandemic. So natigil siya. Lumipad na ako ng London, and nabalitaan ko may iba nang ipapartner kay JC.”
“Nag-text ako kay tita— talaga po ‘di na ako si Stella? ‘Tas nabalitaan ko tinangal na— and hinintay umuwi ako. Muntik na. They almost replaced me. Non-negotiable for us. Hindi namin tutuloy if hindi kami,” she added.
The role holds deep significance for her. She feels a strong connection to it, as it marked a major turning point and gave her a big break in her career. As per her words, the role put her on the map as an actress, and at the same time, as an actress who can bring money in.
