CBCP Slams Vlogger Who Spat on Church Holy Water in Misamis Occidental
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) lambasted a vlogger after allegedly disrespecting a church holy water.
Over the past few days, the video of a female content creator who allegedly spat on holy water font at a Church in Misamis Occidental becomes one of the most controversial topics on social media.
The video shows a woman in sunglasses leaning toward the holy water basin, dipping her fingers, and then making a suspicious motion. Although the vlogger has denied spitting and claimed it was a misunderstanding, many people still believe the act crossed the line.
In her now-deleted post, she apologized but insisted she didn’t do it intentionally.
The viral video has sparked outrage among church leaders and the Catholic community after she was seen allegedly spitting into the holy water font at St. John the Baptist Parish in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental.
Because of the incident, the parish was temporarily closed to the public while the church figures out how to properly respond.

On Wednesday (August 6, 2025), CBCP expressed strong disapproval, saying the act deeply offended many parishioners and disrespected something sacred. Holy water is an important part of the Catholic faith, used for blessings and prayers, and the church is considered a holy place.
The CBCP believes the act was done for online attention, as the woman is known to have a large following on social media.
Church leaders pointed out that whether or not the video was made during Mass, the action left a painful impact on the believers. They emphasized that people should think carefully about their behavior, especially inside sacred places.
No formal case is expected to be filed, but the damage has already been done. The church now needs time for cleansing and prayer before reopening, and the community must process the disrespect shown to a place they consider holy.
