Over 30 Laptops Stolen from Faculty Room in Manila School

5 Suspects Nabbed for Stealing Over 30 Laptops from Faculty Room of School in Manila

ROBBERY INCIDENT – More than 30 laptops were reportedly stolen from the faculty room of a school in Sta. Ana, Manila.

Teachers in a school in Sta. Ana, Manila were shocked when they returned to campus on Tuesday. Instead of a normal school day, they were greeted by a broken door and a damaged charging cart cabinet inside the senior high school faculty room.

The incident happened after heavy rains and storms brought by the recent southwest monsoon.

It was later confirmed that the faculty room had been broken into, and more than 30 laptops issued by the Department of Education (DepEd) were stolen. These gadgets, which were meant to help in teaching and learning, were estimated to be worth around P1.2 million.

Police quickly conducted a follow-up operation and arrested two teenage boys, aged 15 and 17, believed to be the main suspects. Along with them, three other adult men were caught. The adults reportedly helped in selling the stolen laptops, each for only P1,000 to P2,000.

Unfortunately, out of all the stolen laptops, only seven have been recovered so far.

Authorities are now looking into the possibility that this was an inside job. Investigators noted that the suspects seemed to know exactly which room to target, which raised suspicions that someone from the inside might have helped them.

During the investigation, the three adult suspects admitted their involvement but claimed that the two minors were the ones who planned everything.

Robbery charges will be filed against the adult suspects, while the two minors will be placed under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The school community is hoping for justice and tighter security to prevent similar incidents in the future.
