Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Breaks Silence after SC Ruling on Impeachment Complaint
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President has spoken after the Supreme Court declared the impeachment complaint against her as “unconstitutional”.
The decision of the Supreme Court declaring the articles of impeachment against Vice Pres. Duterte “unconstitutional” earned different reactions from the people including the senators. The court found the impeachment complaint against Duterte going against the one-year rule.

Also, the Supreme Court stated in its decision its findings that the Vice President was denied of her right to due process. Meanwhile, the court clarified that its decision does not equate to the dismissal of the impeachment case.
The Supreme Court decision came with a 13-0 voting among the justices. While the ruling is immediately executory, a motion for reconsideration may be filed. The House of Representatives previously confirmed the possibility of doing so.

The Vice President’s camp welcomed the decision of the high court. According to her legal team, this is another instance when the court “upheld the rule of law”. Amid the ruling, they maintained that they remain ready to answer to the allegations against the Vice President.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte herself broke her silence on the decision of the Supreme Court over the impeachment complaint against her. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President thanked her legal team for taking on her case even when no one else was willing to be on her side.
The Vice President also expressed her gratitude to the petitioners for their conviction to challenged the alleged “abuses of the House of Representatives to her”. Based on the report, she also thanked those who spoke against persecution and those who prayed for justice for her.
“To the parents, children, and silent supporters who offered their prayers for justice — thank you. Your quiet faith lifts me up,” Duterte said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also stressed her belief that the Philippines deserves better leaders. Based on the report, she called on the Filipinos to stand strong against leaders who will bring the country down.
“Our country deserves better, and we shall stand tall, strong, and resilient against leaders whose greed will bring down our homeland. We deserve better,” the Vice President said.
