Elderly Man Lost His Life After Speeding Motorcycle Hits Him in Aklan

On Monday morning (July 28, 2025), an 86-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding motorcycle while crossing the road in Barangay Libertad, Nabas, Aklan. The tragic accident was caught on CCTV.
In the video, the elderly man can be seen slowly crossing the street when, just as he reached the middle of the road, a motorcycle suddenly struck him. The impact was strong, causing the man to fall hard to the ground while the 28-year-old rider was thrown off his motorcycle.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and rushed both the elderly man and the rider to the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, the man was declared dead on arrival due to serious injuries all over his body. The motorcycle rider survived and is currently receiving treatment.
Authorities from the Nabas Municipal Police Station are now waiting for the family’s decision on whether they plan to file legal charges against the rider. Meanwhile, the police are continuing their investigation to determine if the rider was speeding or violating traffic rules before the crash.
The heartbreaking incident reminds about road safety, especially for senior citizens who often move slower when crossing streets. Locals are now calling for stricter speed enforcement and more visible pedestrian lanes to prevent similar accidents from happening again.
