Who are the famous personalities who attended?

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey was there as the ambassador of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). She wore a minimalist modern Filipiniana by Filipino designer Mark Bumgarner.

Fashion style icon Heart Evangelista also did not miss the affair, wearing a white Filipiniana by Michael Leyva. Her husband, Sen. Chiz Escudero, was re-elected as Senate President.

Dr. Aivee and Dr. Z Teo were also present at the affair. Dr. Aivee’s gown is a classic Filipiniana with delicate lace details custom-made by Paul Cabral. Dr. Z, on the other hand, wore a Barong Tagalog that had designs paying homage to his home country, Singapore. It featured intricate images of the Merlion.

Tootsy Angara wore a creation by Rajo Laurel. She is the wife of Education Secretary Sonny Angara

Emmeline Aglipay Villar and Cong. Badette Barbers put on creations of Ivarluski Aseron.

The traditional and literal red carpet was removed after some lawmakers argued that “maintain[ing] a show of pageantry” while the nation is still facing the widespread damage caused by the series of cyclones and habagat in the past weeks would be “out of touch.”

Guests were told to wear formal attire and traditional Filipino clothing, like barong or Filipiniana. The memo from House Secretary General Reginald Velasco stated, “Members are respectfully urged to avoid ostentatious displays and exercise discretion in their wardrobe choices.”
