Man Caught Stealing Power Cable in Taytay Given Community Service
A man was only assigned to do community service after being caught stealing an electric cable, as no formal complainant came forward.
On early morning on Monday (July 28, 2025), a 20-year-old man was caught on CCTV stealing electrical cables from a construction site in Barangay San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal. Since no formal complaint was filed against him, barangay officials decided to let him off with community service instead of jail time.
The incident happened at a construction site located at the corner of Noli Pascual Street and Ortigas Avenue.

CCTV footage showed the man repeatedly walking around the area before finally getting something to stand on so he could reach the cable. He was then seen pulling the wire from the construction site.
“Paaligid-aligid, pabalik-balik, nakita po sa CCTV kumuha po ng tungtungan, tumuntong kasi hindi nga po abot ‘yung kukunin niya. Hinugot po ‘yung wire sa construction site,” Barangay San Isidro Officer-In-Charge Dominador Peñaranda said.
Barangay officials were monitoring the CCTV cameras when they noticed the suspicious activity. They responded right away and caught the man in the act. After the arrest, they found out that he was from Cainta, Rizal, and made a living by collecting and selling scrap materials.

Because the construction site management didn’t file a complaint, the suspect was not brought to the police station. Instead, the barangay required him to do community service, which involved cleaning around the area as a way to make up for his wrongful action.
According to the barangay, this is their usual approach when there’s no complainant. But if someone officially reports the incident, they proceed with proper legal action.
