ABS-CBN star Daniel Padilla reveals that he will be making a movie project soon, and here’s what he said about making romcoms.
In the Philippines, a lot of people love romantic-comedy films and series. This genre often portrays everyday life, which makes it easily relatable, mirroring real Filipino experiences and values. There’s also emphasis on emotions, and among the figures of romcoms in the country is actor Daniel Padilla.
He and his former love team, superstar Kathryn Bernardo, have done several romcom movies, and mostly are blockbuster hits. After their split, however, their love team also disbanded.
Among the first projects Padilla did after their split was “Incognito.” This is an action series that earned him the Outstanding Asian Star award at the 2025 Seoul International Drama Awards.
He admitted that he enjoyed doing the action series, but while he had fun working on a series, his heart still searched for the joy of doing films. With this, the actor is now set to return to the big screen.
Daniel missed doing films and said, “Very soon. May niluluto ako after ‘Incognito.’ Miss na miss ko na gumawa ng pelikula. Masaya ang series pero my heart nasa pelikula.”
He plans to continue his action star era on the silver screen, riding the momentum he still carries. However, he remains open to exploring other genres, including romantic comedies. If a good romcom project comes his way, he’s more than willing to take it on.
He shared, “I’ve had my share of romcoms… Kung maganda naman at sobra ako nagandahan,why not? I love that genre,” and added, “Pero magkakaroon na ng meeting. Very soon malalaman kung ano ang project, kung ano maganda gawin para sa ‘kin.”
