Bongbong Marcos Assures Filipinos of Sufficient Food, Petroleum Supply: “We don’t have a problem”

Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Food, Petroleum Supply in PH amid Ongoing Middle East War

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President assured the Filipino people that there’s no problem in the supply of food and petroleum products in the Philippines.

Despite that United States President Donald Trump had warned Iran of a much harder hit if they will block the global oil supply, the costs of fuel in several countries across the globe have increased. The U.S. President believes that it will be “short-term”.

The oil price increase in several nations including the Philippines came after U.S. and Israel had joint airstrikes against Iran which led to the death of its leader, Supreme Minister Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In the Philippines, fuel prices have already increased hugely twice since the start of the war in the Middle East. Countless Filipinos also filled their tanks before every bigtime oil price hike.

Malacañang previously advised the Filipino people not to do panic buying. According to Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro, the country allegedly has enough supply of fuel and basic commodities.

“Hindi po kailangan magkaroon ng panic buying dahil kumpleto naman po at enough pa po ang supply, lalong-lalo na ang ating fuel at ng ating mga basic commodities,” Castro said.

Shortly after Malacañang said that there is no need for panic buying, Pres. Bongbong Marcos admitted that the government is already looking for other countries where we could get an oil supply. According to the Chief Executive, PH is now talking with other nations who it has not bought oil from before.

Marcos Jr. stressed that it is not certain as to when the war in the Middle East will end. He also admitted that there is no clear view as to how high the prices could go.

“[The] real problem here that everybody is having to deal with is hindi natin alam kung gaano katagal ito. Hindi natin, kasi yung presyo, kung saan pupunta,” the President said.

Recently, amid the ongoing war in the Middle East, Pres. Bongbong Marcos assured the Filipinos that there is enough food and petroleum supply in the Philippines. According to ABS-CBN News, he stressed that everything is in “normal levels”.

“We don’t have a problem sa supply [of] food, petroleum products, including fertilizers for the farmers. That’s our main concern. So far, we’ve been able to keep everything at normal levels… Everything is normal, no need to hoard,” Marcos Jr. said based on the post.

Furthermore, the President also called on the vendors not to take advantage of the situation. Previously, Malacañang issued a warning against the gas stations who apply overpricing in their fuel products.
