President Bongbong Marcos delivered the SONA 2025 and discussed this promise from the administration.
MARCOS SONA 2025 – The State of the Nation Address (SONA) has been delivered, and the PHP 20 rice program has been discussed.
The 2025 State of the Nation Address (SONA) is the fourth of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in his six-year term. He arrived via helicopter at the Batasan Complex in Quezon City at 3:30 PM, which was half an hour before his SONA. The fourth SONA marks the start of the second half of his term.

He opened the SONA with a call for unity, urging officials to set aside differences and fulfill their duties.
One of the matters he discussed was the PHP 20 rice program, which was promised during his presidential campaign. According to the president, at least PHP 113 billion would be allocated for this, in order to be implemented nationwide.
The program has already been rolled out in San Juan, Pangasinan, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, Cebu, Bacolod, Guimaras, Siquijor, and Davao Del Sur.
To those asking him about this, his response was: “Napatunayan natin na kaya na natin ang bente pesos sa bawat kilo ng bigas, nang hindi malulugi ang mga magsasaka!”
With the said budget, this will have a nationwide implementation through KADIWA Stores at Centers in various local government units. He also warned price manipulators and shady traders. He expressed that the government will go after them to hold them accountable for economic sabotage.
The chief executive promised to give their all – not just to match, but to surpass the relief and comfort the administration provided to the public. With the remaining three years, the administration would focus on jobs, investments, and poverty alleviation.
Meanwhile, Sen. Imee Marcos and senators Robin Padilla, Bato dela Rosa, and Bong Go — members of the Duterte bloc at the Senate — have skipped the 4th SONA of Marcos. Vice President Sara Duterte also did not attend.
