Sen. Imee Marcos will not attend her brother’s SONA
Senator Imee Marcos si that she will skip the 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of his brother President Bongbong Marcos.
The SONA 2025 is on Monday, Juky 28, 2028. Politicians and government employees are expected to attend the event, as well as prominent people in the political scene.
However, for the 4th SONA, Sen. Imee will not attend, based on the report from ABS-CBN.

Senators who are also members of the Duterte bloc, such as Sens. Robin Padilla, Bato dela Rosa, and Bong Go, will also skip the SONA.
Sen. Imee Marcos said that she will distribute relief goods to typhoon victims. For her, this remained a priority because of widespread flooding over the last few days.
The female Senator denied that the reason for her absence was that Vice President Sara Duterte commanded her not to. VP Sara will not attend the SONA as well.
Sen. Imee also stressed that her decision not to attend was because of her rift with her brother. “Hindi, nakikiisa lamang ako sa Duterte Bloc po at hindi naman talaga pupunta,” the lawmaker said.

The Senator also shared that she hoped that this year’s SONA will be toned down and that red carpet walks will be excluded. She wanted the elaborate ceremonies and “motherhood statements” would also be taken away.
For her, a simple SONA will do. “Gawa na lang tayo ng to-do list, ng lista ng gagawin sa mga susunod na taon. Simpleng-simple laman: Ang pagkain, ito nga, ang flood control na trillion na, ang nawawala at nalunod sa baha at ang kalusugan at edukasyon ng kada Filipino,” Sen. Imee Marcos.
To recall, Sen. Imee expressed views against PBBM when it comes to the issue of former President Rodrigo Duterte‘s ICC arrest. She is known as one of the closest friends of VP Sara Duterte. Sen. Imee also demanded that the Palace release a statement regarding Rustan’s Paolo Tantoco’s death that allegedly involved First Lady Liza Marcos.
