Stranded Travelers Cook Pancit Canton Along NLEX to Pass Time
Several travelers along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) cook pancit canton while stranded due to nonstop rain.
On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, some motorists in Valenzuela have found a unique way to pass the time while stranded due to heavy rains. Instead of waiting impatiently inside their vehicles, a few of them decided to cook a pancit canton right at the back of their car.
Atty. Vanessa Realizan, a TikTok user, shared the video on her social media account. The video immediately spread like wildfire on social media and garnered various reactions from the online community.

In the video, some passengers can be seen preparing and cooking instant noodles in the middle of the highway traffic. They even set up a small stove while stuck for hours on the flooded expressway.
According to the video, the group had been stranded for almost four hours. Despite the inconvenience, they kept their spirits up by turning the stressful wait into a merienda break.
“Almost 4 hrs na kayo sa NLEX nagluto na ng pancit canton sila koya,” Vanessa said.

Some netizens admired their creativity and positive attitude in the middle of the situation, while others shared their frustrations, saying that Filipinos should not have to deal with these kinds of problems on the road.
The scene shows the everyday struggles commuters face during the rainy season. The flooding and traffic made travel nearly impossible, and many were left to wait for hours with little to no updates.
Still, the simple act of cooking pancit canton while stranded became a reminder of how Filipinos can stay calm, resourceful, and even find humor during tough times.
