Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Gets Dad Rodrigo’s Nod over Possible 2028 Election Bid
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is ready to support her if she runs in the 2028 Elections.
The soured relationship between Vice Pres. Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos is no secret to the public. The Duterte camp believes that the Chief Executive allegedly played a role in the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court.
Former Pres. Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands. He is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over the war on drugs of his administration. Pres. Marcos and the Malacañang claimed that the government had to act on Duterte’s arrest due to its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte hit Pres. Bongbong Marcos anew saying he allegedly pretends to be kind and different from his father, the late former dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. He also previously claimed that she has no ill feelings with Marcos Jr. but she has a problem with his performance as the leader of the country.
Duterte previously said that it is no longer her fault if the president allegedly does not know how to be a president. She also apologized to the Filipino people for endorsing and running alongside Marcos Jr. in 2022.
Currently, there are calls from the Die-hard Duterte supporters or DDS for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to run for president in 2028. The Vice President has also repeatedly teased about becoming a president.
Recently, based on a report on Inquirer, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is ready to support her and campaign for her if she runs in the 2028 Elections. The Vice President did not specific which post she intends to run for.
“He said if you want to run, then run. He said he’ll be the first to contribute and support,” the Vice President said.
Based on the report, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte also hopes that he is no longer under the ICC detention by the time that her daughter would campaign for a 2028 Election bid. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her father really wants to campaign and be the first to help her.
The Vice President is currently faced with a looming impeachment trial. However, amid the calls on the Senate impeachment court to start the trial, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero junked the call to rush the start of Duterte’s trial.
The Vice President said she will not attend the 4th State of the Nation Address of the Chief Executive. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that there is no law that mandates Filipinos to listen to the 4th SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
