Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on ICC Arrest & Detention of Dad Rodrigo Anew
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed that President Bongbong Marcos allegedly used the International Criminal Court (ICC) to jail former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte or drive him away from the country.
The arrest and the transfer of custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the ICC greatly marked the Philippine history. The Filipino people have mixed reactions to it. Undeniably, Pres. Bongbong Marcos and the Philippine government earned a lot of criticisms from what happened.
Malacañang previously insisted that Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly did not commit betrayal over Duterte’s arrest. According to Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro, the government only did its job.
Marcos Jr. also claimed that the government acted on Duterte’s arrest in lieu of its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). He also stressed that the issue between his predecessor and the ICC is already existent even before he came into the picture.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is detained under the custody of the ICC for more than 100 days now. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously confirmed that former Pres. Duterte is already “skin and bones” now inside the ICC detention facility as claimed by her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman.
Meanwhile, amid the worries of the Duterte supporters, the Vice President claimed that she prefers the slim physique of her father. According to her, the previous physique of the former President with a huge belly looked very unhealthy for his heart.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is currently in The Hague, Netherlands for scheduled visits to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. In a Free Duterte Now rally in The Hague, the Vice President spoke anew about the ICC and Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She claimed that the Marcos administration used the foreign court which also used the admin for their advantage.
“Ginamit, nagkuntsaba ang ICC at ang administrasyon ni BBM. Gamitan tayo dito. Kailangan nyo ng kaso. Kailangan namin palayasin yan dito kasi talong-talo na kami sa politika,” the Vice President claimed.
Speaking to the media, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reiterated his claim that the Marcos administration is allegedly using the ICC to keep her father away from the country. She recalled that before the former President was arrested and brought to The Hague, he was allegedly the “foremost staunch” critic of the Marcos administration.
Vice Pres. Duterte also claimed that the Marcos admin allegedly does not want an opposition. She stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos supposedly used the ICC to either jail the former President or keep him away from the country.
“Nagpapagamit ang ICC sa administrasyon ni — administrasyon ni Marcos at si Marcos naman ginagamit niyang ang ICC para malayo, makulong o mawala si dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa ating bansa,” she said.
A Duterte-ally, Sen. Bato dela Rosa claimed that he is the number two in the ICC list of the people to investigate over their roles in the drug war of the previous admin. Based on a report on Inquirer, in case there would be an ICC arrest warrant against Sen. Dela Rosa, the Palace maintained that there would be no special arrest for the lawmaker.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa dared the Marcos administration to arrest him. According to him, the government should do it if they want to make an allegedly “very huge mistake” again.
