How Online Gambling is Tearing Families Apart, Warns Bongbong Marcos
BONGBONG MARCOS – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has sounded the alarm on the dark side of digital progress, emphasizing how online gambling is leading to the breakdown of families across the nation.
Marcos Jr. hasexpressed concern over the growing impact of online gambling on Filipino families, highlighting the dangers of irresponsible digital practices in his latest vlog. He noted that while digitalization has brought numerous benefits, it has also made vices like gambling more accessible.
“Ang isa pang pinadali ng digitalization ay ang pagsusugal. Maraming pamilya na nasisira dito lalo na kung hindi responsable ang pagkakagamit nito,” he said in his vlog.
President Marcos also warned that technology is being misused by malicious individuals to conduct scams and spread false information. These deceptive acts have left many Filipinos vulnerable to fraud and misinformation.
“Sa kabila naman ng magagandang development na ito nakakalungkot na ginagamit din ito ng mga masasamang loob, sa mga scam sa mga fake news, sa pagpapalaganap ng maling impormasyon at marami sa atin ang nabibiktima nito,” he said.
Despite these issues, Marcos assured that the government is committed to enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure. The administration’s fiber backbone project, which is now in its third phase, already benefits around 17 million Filipinos. This initiative is part of broader efforts to improve connectivity across the country.
“Internet ang pangunahing pinakapangangailangan para maging konektado ang ating mga kababayan na nasa GIDA…” the President added, emphasizing the installation of Starlink and satellite internet in remote areas.
He also highlighted the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) in modern society, describing it as a transformative tool with practical everyday uses.
“Isa sa mga development na ating nasasaksihan ngayon sa digital landscape ay ang tinatawag na AI or Artificial Intelligence…” he said, encouraging Filipinos to embrace AI for learning and productivity.
In his message, Marcos emphasized continued improvements to public wifi and digital government services through platforms like the eGov Super App.
“Alam niyo na ba globally recognized at umani ng sari-saring parangal ang ating eGov at parami nang parami na rin ang function nito,” he shared.
Through digital innovations and improved regulations, the government aims to safeguard citizens while promoting responsible digital use.
