Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s Lawyers Make Move on ICC Interim Release Bid
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The lawyers of the former President requested the ICC to pause in the decision-making over the camp’s interim release plea.
Ahead of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirming that former Pres. Duterte is already “skin and bones: inside the ICC detention facility now, the former Chief Executive’s camp has filed a request to the foreign court for his interim release.

Not only Vice Pres. Duterte but as well as her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, and brother, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte, claimed that the former President is already “skin and bones” inside the ICC detention facility now. According to her, it is due to the loss of appetite that her father’s weight dropped.
Meanwhile, the Vice President claimed that she prefers the current physique of her father. She believes that his previous physique with a huge belly looks very unhealthy for his heart.

With regards to the ICC interim release bid of the former President, the country where he would stay in case it would be granted was not disclosed. The Vice President justified the request saying that not all of the needs of her 80-year-old father can be provided inside the ICC detention facility.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte believes that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte can be taken cared of better if they could hire a private nurse or a caregiver. The interim release bid of the former Chief Executive gained different reactions from the people.
Recently, the lawyers of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte filed an urgent request to the ICC to hold off on making a decision over their camp’s interim release bid. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the legal team of the former Chief Executive still awaits the documents and information to support the application for the interim release bid of the former President.

In the request that was submitted on July 18, the lawyers of former Pres. Duterte claimed encountering difficulties in getting some materials and approvals that they need. According to British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman, the lead counsel of the former President, they are trying to acquire a certain information from someone.
Furthermore, based on the report, the legal team of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is also seeking a permission for an independent assessment related to the ICC case of the former Chief Executive.
The plea of the former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s lawyers to the ICC to hold off on deciding on his interim release bid as they await some documents and information. Previously, Department of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla expressed an opposition towards the ICC interim release bid of former Pres. Duterte.
