“It is also about being responsible, building relationships… We need teamwork to shepherd the passage of bills. The wealth of experience is considered, but it is combined with other factors. And as you’ve seen, we neophytes in the 19th Congress were provided enough training ground,” the La Union Representative said.

La Union Representative Paolo Ortega V is the assistant majority leader of the 19th Congress while Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos was the Senior Deputy Majority Leader of the chamber. It was the presidential son’s first time as House legislator.

If he will be the next House Majority Leader, Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos will be working closely with his uncle again, presidential cousin and House Speaker Martin Romualdez, if he retains in the post. Romualdez’s son, Andrew Julia Romualdez or more commonly called as “Marty”, was also elected as Tacloban councilor and representative of the Tingog Party List.

With regards to the Senate leadership, several senators and incoming senators claimed that they support the leadership of the 19th Congress and they see no problem that requires a change of leadership. Sen. Raffy Tulfo is one of those who back Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero.
