DIY Abortion Kit Seller Arrested in Undercover Drug Bust

Online Abortion Kit Seller Nabbed in NBI Sting Operation

ABORTION KIT – Authorities have intercepted a suspect allegedly selling unauthorized DIY abortion kits through the internet.

An alleged abortionist has been arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) after she was reportedly caught selling abortion pills through online platforms.

Authorities revealed that the suspect had been operating without a proper license or any legal authority to sell or distribute pharmaceutical drugs. The NBI Dangerous Drugs Division received a tip regarding the illegal activity and immediately launched an undercover investigation to validate the claims.

Undercover agents placed an order for the abortion kit being sold online. The package was reportedly delivered to Makati City, where authorities tracked the transaction. Following the completion of the payment, the suspect was apprehended in Manila.

“We did undercover work and then we set up an entrapment operation to catch her in the act of selling these drugs,” said Jonathan Galicia, Chief of the NBI Dangerous Drugs Division. “Eventually the drugs were delivered to Makati and then when she received the payment for the drugs, she was apprehended in Manila.”

According to officials, the kit was a “do-it-yourself” package that came with written instructions for the user to carry out the abortion process independently, without professional medical oversight. These types of products are highly discouraged and pose significant health risks to users.

“This is not allowed for public. And there needs to be authority from the FDA before you can dispense this. Why? Because these drugs na Ito do it yourself. There’s an instruction on how to use the drug. And then it’s not under the supervision of a qualified or a licensed physician,” added Galicia.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also issued warnings against the use of such drugs and cautioned the public about the dangers of self-medication, particularly with unregulated substances.

The suspect is now facing multiple charges, including violations of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) law, the Cybercrime Prevention Act, and the Pharmacy Law. Authorities continue to remind the public to avoid purchasing medication from unverified online sources to prevent further risks to health and safety.
