Rodrigo Duterte Reacts To Linking Attempt between Missing Sabungeros Case, Drug War

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Informs Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte of “Link” Attempt

RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President reacted to the attempt to link his administration’s drug war to the case of missing sabungeros.

Currently, there are several national issues that have elicited different reactions in the Philippines. One of these is the case of the missing cockfighting enthusiasts after a whistleblower claimed that bodies of sabungeros were allegedly thrown in Taal Lake.

Missing Sabungeros Case

Chinese-Filipino businessman Atong Ang and former actress Gretchen Barretto were tagged in the case of the missing sabungeros. He claimed that the former actress who is allegedly part of the so-called “alpha team” agreed to dealing with the cheating cockfight enthusiasts.

The Department of Justice previously confirmed that several cops are currently under restricted duty for their alleged involvement in the case. Based on a report on Inquirer, whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan also claimed that there are allegedly two (2) police officers involved in the case of the missing sabungeros who are also linked to the drug war of the administration of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. He is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over the war on drugs of his administration which is linked to several deaths.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte visited former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte inside the ICC detention facility in The Hague. Based on the report, the Vice President informed her father about the attempt to link his admin’s war on drugs to the case of the missing sabungeros.

Based on the report, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte only said “it is preposterous” to link the case of the missing cockfighting enthusiasts to the war on drugs of his administration. Amid his arrest and detention under the custody of the ICC, the former Chief Executive has repeatedly stressed that everything he did during his term as president was for the country and the Filipino people.

The Duterte family members are taking turns in visiting former Pres. Duterte inside the ICC detention facility. His ICC legal team is led by British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman and the confirmation of the charges against him is set on September 23.

Recently, two (2) resolutions were filed in the Senate calling for a house arrest for the former President. The first resolution was filed by Duterte-ally Senator Alan Peter Cayetano who was the Foreign Affairs chief during the previous administration. He was also the running mate of the former President in the 2016 Elections.

Another resolution was filed by Duterte-ally senators Bato dela Rosa, Bong Go, and Robin Padilla who are also calling for a house arrest for the former President. They cited his age, health conditions, and isolation from his loved ones.
