RED UNCLE ROOM – What’s with this room that have been circulating online and why has it gone massively viral?
Early of July 2025, a photo of a shabby-looking room was viral and circulated online with funny and intriguing captions. Over the past week,several social media users have been sharing this photo, and to those who are not chronically online, they have no idea what is the context of the photo.

Some of them, apart from the witty and funny captions, would edit the photo by putting themselves inside the room and imitate a character that wears long hair with bangs and a face mask.
What’s with this room, and why is it trending?
This was the room of a Chinese man named Jiao. He was famously known as Red Uncle. He is a cross-dresser and disguised himself as female to lure men and film his intimate encounters with them at his home, specifically in that room as seen in the viral photo.
According to reports, Jiao is from the eastern city of Nanjing. A lot of his videos with the men he lured gone viral online, and they even reached the Philippines.
The 38-year-old man would disguise himself through heavy makeup, a wig with bangs, and long skirts. He had a mask on to hide his face. He would then distribute the illegally recorded intimate encounters an online group, and would earn from subscription fees.
On July 8, #RedUncle trended on popular Chinese microblog Weibo. The victims identified themselves and the culprit was reported to the authorities. The exact number of encounters were not clarified and confirmed, but according to rumors, there were 1,691 men involved.
Same sex relationships in China is not illegal, but sharing private images and deeds violates privacy rights and could be deemed a criminal offense.
