Pres. Bongbong Marcos OKS Proposed P6.793-trillion Budget
BONGBONG MARCOS – Malacañang confirmed that the President approved the proposed P6.793-trillion national budget for 2026.
The Philippine government is currently preparing for another fiscal year. The 20th Congress is set to open this July 28 when Pres. Marcos is also set to deliver his 4th State of the Nation Address or SONA.

Amid the ongoing rift between her and the President, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed that she will skip the 4th SONA of Pres. Marcos. Ahead of the annual address, Malacañang confirmed that the Chief Executive approved the proposed budget for 2026.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos approved the proposed P6.793-trillion national budget for 2026. It is around 22% of the gross domestic product or GDP of the Philippines.

The recently-approved proposed P6.793-trillion budget is 7.4% higher than the P6.326-trillion budget for 2025. Based on the report, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the proposed budget prioritizes investments in healthcare, quality education, and boosting the skills of the workforce in the country.

Based on the report, Pangandaman also said the proposed budget also includes the continuous investment in digital transformation as well as in the Build Better More Infrastructure Program. Furthermore, budget spending proposal also includes key measures to boost the resilience of the country against disaster and climate change and to strengthen social protection systems.
Recently, the results of the latest Social Weather Station or SWS survey showed an increase in the trust rating of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. It rise in the trust rating of the President came amid him spending his time in the projects of the government.
Marcos Jr., in one of his podcast interviews, denied having a role in the impeachment case of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte saying he is busy in spending his time in the things that would benefit the Filipino people and the country.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos also recently reiterated that the P20 per kilo rice is “here to stay”. He previously claimed that they already found a way for the continuity of affordable rice for the Filipino people — the most popular campaign promise of the then former Senator when he was running for the presidency in 2022.
Prior to it, amid their ongoing rift, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed she knows that the P20 per kilo rice is doable but she won’t help Marcos Jr.
