Heavy Rain for Nearly 4 Hours Causes Flooding in Bacolod City

Bacolod City Suffers Massive Flooding Due Heavy Rain for Nearly 4 Hours

The heavy rain that lasted for almost four hours caused flooding in several parts of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

Around 10 p.m. on Friday (July 11, 2025), the rain started and continued until about 2 a.m. the following day, according to a resident. The heavy and continuous rainfall left many areas waterlogged, especially low-lying communities like Purok Gonzaga West in Barangay Villamonte.

One resident shared that floodwaters entered their home, forcing him to spend the night at a nearby hotel for safety before heading to the seaport early in the morning. In a video he posted, only a few vehicles could be seen on the road, likely due to the flooded conditions.

He also shared videos and photos showing how floodwater entered their home. Some household items were already submerged, and furniture was visibly damaged.

On early Saturday morning (July 12, 2025), the water levels had already reached the gutters along Burgos Street, one of the busiest areas in the city.

The southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” continues to bring rains to several parts of the country, including the Negros Island Region. Weather experts from PAGASA have warned that more rain is expected, and people should stay alert for possible floods and landslides.
