Statement of Malacañang on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte
Malacañang expressed its hope that Vice President Sara Duterte will not criticize the government as the “president is working”.
The rift between Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is no secret to the Filipino people. It has become evident since the Vice President left the Department of Education and the Marcos Cabinet in 2024.

For several times, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her regret in running along with Pres. Bongbong Marcos in the 2022 Elections. She even apologized to the Filipino people for endorsing the now Chief Executive.

Previously, Malacañang claimed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte allegedly keeps on reviving the same claim of regretting her team up with Marcos Jr. When asked if the President has the same sentiment, Palace press undersecretary Claire Castro said it is not in the nature of the President to speak negativities.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte criticized the Marcos administration anew saying that the Philippine government is slow in extending help to the Filipinos in war-affected countries Iran and Israel. According to Duterte, Marcos Jr. is allegedly all about politics.
The Vice President was also saddened that the Philippine government will spend public funds for the witnesses of the case against her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The Duterte camp believes that Marcos Jr. is allegedly behind the impeachment moves against the Vice President. Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously reiterated that he has no role in the impeachment process. Malacañang also stressed several times that the President will not intervene in the impeachment process.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she has a problem with the performance of Pres. Bongbong Marcos as the leader of the country. According to her, she has no ill feelings for him despite the alleged political persecution. She also previously claimed that the Marcos administration allegedly has no plans for the country.
Recently, OVP spokesperson Ruth Castelo claimed that the job of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is almost similar to the duties of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Malacañang immediately reacted to the said remarks.
”Hindi naman siguro din kasama sa mandato ng Presidente na laging personal trip o nagbabakasyon,” Palace press officer Claire Castro said.
Based on a report on GMA News, the Malacañang official further said that they are no longer looking for whatever work of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Castro expressed the Palace’s hope that Duterte will not criticize the government as Pres. Bongbong Marcos is doing his job.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on her upcoming absence to the 4th SONA of Marcos Jr. this July 28.
