Results of Latest SWS Survey on VP Sara Duterte Impeachment Trial Released

SWS SURVEY – The results of a Social Weather Station poll showed that more Filipinos believe Senate allegedly “delays” Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.

The Senate impeachment court ruled to return the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to the House of Representatives. The senator judges question the constitutionality of the impeachment of the Vice President and want a reconfirmation from the 20th Congress.

Eighteen (18) senator judges voted in favor of the remand of the Articles of Impeachment against Vice Pres. Duterte to the House of Representatives. Only five (5) senator judges including opposition senators Koko Pimentel and Risa Hontiveros voted against the motion.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero claimed that the return of Duterte’s impeachment to the House is not a dismissal or termination of the impeachment case. According to him, it is even a chance for the House prosecution team to answer to the questions of the senator judges even before the impeachment court makes a verdict.

However, to many Filipinos, the move of the Senate impeachment court is allegedly a tactic to delay the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Recently, an SWS survey was conducted over the alleged delay of the Vice President’s impeachment trial.

Based on a report on Inquirer, the results of the SWS survey conducted from June 25 to June 29 showed that more Filipinos believe that the Senate is allegedly delaying the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Forty-four (44) percent of the respondents expressed belief that the Senate is allegedly stalling the trial while 25% of the respondents disagree with it.

Twenty-two (22) percent of the respondents of the SWS survey are undecided on whether or not the Senate is really delaying the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to the report, the belief that the Senate is allegedly stalling the trial is dominant in all areas except in Mindanao.

With regards to the undecided response rate, it was highest in Mindanao at 25% followed by Luzon outside Metro Manila at 22%, Visayas at 21%, and Metro Manila at 17%. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte vowed that she will answer to the issues about her Confidential Funds publicly if there will be no impeachment trial.
