19-Year-Old Girl Found Dead After Waking Up to Robbery in Tagum City
A 19-year-old girl was found dead on the second floor of their home after waking up to a robbery in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
On early Wednesday morning (July 9, 2025), a young woman, who lived on the second floor of their home in Barangay La Filipina, was discovered lifeless and covered in blood.
According to the police, the victim suffered 38 stab wounds across her body. Investigators believe the motive was robbery, as several valuable items were missing from her room, including a laptop, cellphone, tablet, and watches.

Authorities also recovered a blood-stained grasscutter, a dumbbell, and a handkerchief at the scene. These items will be examined closely through forensic analysis to help build the case.
In a swift hot pursuit operation, police arrested two teenage boys at a nearby boarding house with the help of a witness. The two minors later admitted to the crime. Police revealed that the suspects originally intended to steal from the house, but when the victim woke up and saw them, they panicked and stabbed her repeatedly to avoid being identified.
Recovered from the suspects were the stolen items taken from the victim’s room. The police are still hunting for two more suspects who are believed to have been involved in the incident.

As the investigation continues, the community is left in grief and disbelief. The victim was a student with a promising future, whose life was taken in a senseless act of violence.
“Hindi naman sila nag-atubili sa pag-amin na sila talaga ang gumawa ng krimen. Yun nga, natakot din sila dahil nagising ang biktima, kaya pinatay na lang nila para hindi sila makilala,” PLtCol. Frederick Deles said.
