PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (July 9, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country.

PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galic reported that the southwest monsoon will continue to bring rains over the country.

The southwest monsoon will bring occasional rains over the Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands.

Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Antique, Aklan, and the rest of Cagayan.

The weather disturbance will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

A low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. It has no direct impact on any part of the country.

“Its movement will be generally northwestward, and even if it enters our area of responsibility, the chance of it directly affecting any part of our land remains low,” Galica said.

The weather agency has warned the affected residents to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

“To our countrymen there, we continue to warn them of the threat of flooding and landslides due to the almost continuous rains due to the habagat,” she added.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over northern and western sections of Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
