PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.  

On Tuesday (July 8, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.  

Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over the country.

“The rest of Luzon, particularly the Bicol Region and the rest of Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) and Cagayan Valley Region, will experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon to evening,” he added.  

Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Batanes, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Antique, Aklan, Sultan Kudarat, and Babuyan Islands.  

The southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

Tropical Cyclone Bising is expected to weaken as it heads towards mainland China.  

We can see this week, the heavy rains that we experienced, particularly this weekend, will be reduced, especially since this Tropical Cyclone Bising is heading towards mainland China,” he added.  

PAGASA said that no low-pressure areas or cyclones are being monitored within or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.  

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains, according to PAGASA.  

“So be cautious of the potential for flash floods and landslides, especially when we have severe thunderstorms,” Badrina said.  

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over extreme Northern Luzon, the western section of Central Luzon, and the rest of Northern Luzon. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.
