PAGASA Says Tropical Storm Mun to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Tropical Storm Mun and the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Thursday (July 3, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A tropical storm and the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.

PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez reported that Tropical Storm Mun is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The tropical storm was last spotted 2,500 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

“It is moving northwestward and we expect it to approach Extreme Northern Luzon,” Dominguez said.

The low-pressure area inside the country’s vicinity has a medium chance of strengthening into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora.

“If we can see from our satellite image, it is far from us, as it is outside our PAR. So it will not have a direct impact on any part of our country,” Dominguez said.

The southwest monsoon will bring occasional rains over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.

Habagat will bring similar weather conditions over Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA
