Former Scholar of Sen. Kiko Pangilinan Becomes School Principal in Iloilo
Melanie Tabaculde, a former scholar of Senator Kiko Pangilinan is now the principal of Jaro National High School in Iloilo.
Last June 28, 2025, Kiko Pangilinan received a touching surprise during his visit to the school. The current school principal turned out to be one of the beneficiaries of his college scholarship program many years ago.
Back in 2004, Melanie completed her college education through the help of a scholarship program led by Pangilinan. Now, years later, she is leading a public high school, shaping young minds and guiding teachers, just as she once received guidance herself.
For the former senator, seeing someone he once supported take on a leadership role in education was heartwarming. For Ms. Tabaculde, it was a proud moment to reconnect with someone who helped open doors for her in the past.
The principal’s story shows how educational support can change lives. From a hopeful student dreaming of a brighter future, she is now giving back to the community through her work in the public school system.

“Isang magandang surpresa ang sumalubong sa akin sa aking pagbisita sa Jaro National High School noong Huwebes. Lingid sa aking kaalaman na ang kanilang principal na si Melanie Tabaculde ay isa pala sa ating mga iskolar na nagtapos sa kolehiyo noong 2004!
Nakakataba ng puso na marinig ang ating naging kontribusyon sa pagpapadagdag ng kanyang skill sets.
