Carlo Aquino Hesitant At First In Accepting ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’ Role

Here’s what Carlo Aquino said about his role in the series.

ABS-CBN actor Carlo Aquino used to have second thoughts before he officially accepted his role in ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.’

“It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” Philippine adaptation will soon launch in the country, and the cast of the series includes Anne Curtis, Joshua Garcia, and Carlo Aquino. They are playing the three lead roles.

In a previous article, Anne admitted she was nervous in her role. It had been a long time since she had her last acting project when it was offered to her, but with the amazing support from her co-stars, she was able to pull it off. She had jitters, especially during the first day of taping.

It appeared Anne was not alone in having the jitters and doubts about the role given, as Aquino also admitted that he was, at first, hesitant in accepting it. He was initially afraid to accept the role of a high-functioning individual on the autism spectrum. This is something different from the roles he played before.

“Nagdadalawang isip ako kasi takot akong gawin ‘yung character. So ang dami ‘yung what ifs, ‘yung doubts, ‘yung mga takot. Eh lumaki nang lumaki, lumobo nang lumobo ‘yon, so kailangan kong paputukin. Kailangan I had to see this through. Kailangan kung mag-fail ako at least ginawa ko, tinry ko,” said Aquino.

But with his co-stars, he was also able to pull it off. He talked it out with them, and right after, he became more comfortable about the role.

To study his role, he had a three-day immersion at a special school in order to be effective in his role. Curtis and Garcia also commended Aquino’s “amazing” portrayal as Matmat. According to Garcia, working with Aquino gave him confidence as he would just go straight into the scene, and he would just get carried away by him because he was that good as an actor.
