Fire Destroys Stockroom Inside Sangi Elementary School in Toledo City, Cebu
A fire broke out at Sangi Elementary School in Barangay Sangi, Toledo City, Cebu, destroying its stock room.
Around 10:29 a.m on Monday (June 30, 2025), a fire broke out inside Sangi Elementary School. it was believed to have been caused by sparks from ongoing welding work on the roof. Light materials inside the storage area caught fire, leading to a quick but damaging incident.
The stock room contained old learning materials, paints, broken printers, and equipment previously used in sporting events like the Palarong Pambansa. While the fire spread fast, the responding fire team was able to act quickly.

The flames were brought under control by 10:36 a.m. and fully extinguished just two minutes later.
The Toledo City Fire Station, led by local fire officials, immediately arrived on the scene and began putting out the fire to stop it from spreading to nearby buildings. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.
Support also came from other groups, including the local government unit’s water tanker, MThermal, AFC, police officers, and the city disaster response team. Their teamwork helped prevent further damage and ensured everyone’s safety.

Authorities took the opportunity to remind the public about proper emergency response. They encouraged people to contact the fire department first before posting online, stressing that a few seconds can make a big difference during emergencies.
Although the fire contained quickly and caused no injuries, the damage to school resources is a setback. Still, the fast response from emergency units and the community helped prevent a worse outcome.

The school and local officials are expected to assess the losses and plan recovery efforts in the days ahead.
