72-Year-Old Grandpa Becomes Beauty Vlogger to Support Sick Grandchild’s Treatment
A 72-year-old grandpa from China is gaining admiration online for his touching efforts to help his sick grandchild.
Grandparents are known for their deep love and sacrifices. They often go the extra mile for their families and this grandpa is no exception.
In 2017, Zhu Yunchang’s five-year-old grandchild was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, a rare and serious condition. To cover the cost of treatment, the family had to sell some of their properties. But even with Zhu’s monthly pension, the money was not enough.
Looking for another way to earn, Zhu learned that beauty and makeup vloggers could earn good income. Despite having no background in cosmetics, he decided to give it a try. At first, he reached out to a cosmetics company to request free samples, but they declined after learning about his age.
Still determined, Zhu went to a makeup store and used his own money to buy products for his vlog. A kind saleslady even taught him how to use the makeup properly.
During his very first livestream, Zhu caught the attention of many viewers with his unique content. When they found out the real reason behind his videos that he was doing it to pay for his grandchild’s treatment, many were moved and started to support him.

Zhu’s videos gained views and became monetized. Through this, Zhu was able to buy medicine and cover the cost of medical check-ups for his grandchild.
