Businessman Escapes Mall Parking Ambush in Makati City
A Filipino businessman narrowly escaped an ambush in a mall parking area along Amorsolo Street, Makati City.
On Thursday evening (June 26, 2025), the businessman survived a mall parking ambush in Makati City. The incident happened just as the businessman was getting into his black SUV.
A witness shared that the victim had just entered his car when a man wearing a cap quickly approached and fired several shots at the vehicle, four in total. The businessman was not hit and managed to safely get out of the SUV.

“May bigla pong tao na tumakbo. Bigla pong binaril-baril si boss po namin. Apat na beses po ‘yung putok. Tapos po bigla na po tumakbo sa labas, may nag-aantay na sasakyan po roon. Nanginginig po, first time po ako makakita na nambaril na ganon,” the witness said.
The gunman then ran to a getaway car driven by another person. Thankfully, patrolling officers from the Makati City Police and the Southern Police District Special Operations Unit spotted and intercepted the suspects’ vehicle just two minutes later near the corner of Arnaiz Avenue and Paseo De Roxas.
Authorities arrested the suspects, both Chinese nationals aged 44 and 36. Inside their car, police found three guns, knives, a hammer, packing tape, and other suspicious items. Investigators are still trying to understand the reason behind the attack.
The victim said he had no idea why someone would try to harm him. He mentioned he had no recent arguments or known enemies, and he didn’t recognize the attackers.
The Makati police continue to investigate whether the suspects are part of a gun-for-hire group or connected to any illegal activities such as POGO operations. The two foreign suspects are now facing charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.
“Wala siyang idea. Bigla na lang daw eh. Wala rin naman siyang nakaalitan na mga tao at hindi niya kilala,” Garduque said.
